You do not need a fancy resort to become a good skier. All you need is a slope, snow, and the right equipment. Here are a few places you can practice for annual ski holidays.
Running Trails
With snow on them, any running or hiking trail can be perfect for skiing. Depending on the terrain, if it is rocky or smooth. Uphill or down hill.
Golf Courses
One advantage of a golf course is that there are large open areas, slight hills, and a long space. Golfers don’t come out in snow so it’s usually deserted as well. Because of the smooth and grassy surface, a golf course only need about an inch of snow to be perfect for skiing. Some golf courses allow for other winter sports such as sledding
Parks
National parks or state parks usually have their own trails or bike paths. Even roads or sidewalks that run through a park. Just make sure no cars or bikes come along.
Long Driveways or Roads
These long stretches are usually clear if snow is around. Make sure the roads are closed or that it is not an open access for busy traffic.
Remember to be safe and that some of these are are public property and make have rules to follow.
